Funeral services for Pfc. Robert E. Wright, who was killed March 8, 1945, in northern Italy, will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Proffitt & Sons Funeral home, with Byron Cox post of the American Legion to conduct military rites at the graveside in Oak Hill cemetery. Rev. Lester Wright will be the officiating minister. The son of John T. and Decema Wilson Wright, Pfc. Wright's body was to arrive in Crawfordsville over the Monon railroad at five o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Preceding the rites the body will be kept at the home of the parents, 208 Covington street, where friends may pay their respects until noon Friday. Pfc. Wright, who was born Feb. 22, 1925, in this city, was serving as a machine gunner with a mountain infantry unit when he met his death. Pfc. Wright was sent overseas in December, 1944, after training at Camp Eustice, Va., Fort Bliss, Tex., and Camp Hale, Colo. He enlisted May 2y, 1943. Pfc. Wright attended the Crawfordsville high school. He also was associated with Mike Britton in the house moving business for two years. Surviving besides the parents, are a brother, John Wright, of Port Royal, Pa.; three sisters, Mrs. Iva Mae Newell, Mrs. Anna Day and Mrs. Lucile Weliver, all of Crawfordsville, and a grandfather, William Wright, also of this city.
