Ladoga, Jan 21 - Staff Sgt. James S. Tribby, 30, is a prisoner of the Japanese, according to a War department telegram received by his mother, Mrs. Grace Tribby, here Sunday. Sgt. Tribby was serving in the Army at Corregidor when that fort was forced to surrender May 7p, 1943; and his mother had heard nothing from him until Sunday's message. He was reported Missing In Action by official notice which she received in September, 1942. The latest message stated that Sgt. Tribby had been transferred from a Philippine prisoner of war camp to one in or near Tokyo; but did not give any information as to his condition. The message was forward by the provost general of the US Army upon information presumable obtained by the international Red Cross. Sgt. Tribby may receive as many letters as friends care to write. It was said but none may have more than 24 words and all must be written on special forms obtainable at post offices. He also may receive photographs small though to be mailed in ordinary envelopes.
