Col. ARTHUR JOSEPH LEHMAN

Arthur Joseph Lehman was born in Montgomery County, lived, educated here and then went out to see the world.

Born November 19, 1898 in Montgomery County, he grew up in a family of 11 children born to John Wesley and Marena Kersey Lehman. He attended Darlington school where as most boys of his time, he was active in sports. He is pictured here on the DHS basketball team and when he was a young boy, reading - love it! -- I want to so sincerely thank Joyce Bever for not only sharing this story but for honoring her wonderful uncle.

On his WWI draft registration, he was listed as being tall, slender, having blue eyes and light brown hair. At that time, he was teaching school in Franklin Township with WA Burgin, Trustee, as his boss. He graduated from Wabash College in 1921, and this is possibly him during his Wabash yeare.- found this one on Ancestry, which may or may not be Joyce's picture. The other one IS his 1921 graduation picture also found on Ancestry but sure it is from Joyce as she has this nifty way of adding text to her pictures - wish I knew how to do that    - kbz
