Pfc. John H. Remley, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Remley of Crawfordsville who is stationed at Ft. Benning, Georgia was among the soldiers who formed an escort for President Roosevelt's body at Warm Springs, Georgia. The escort marched ahead of the body through the town to the train, the line being about two miles long. Another line of soldiers stood at attention on each side of the road. Pfc. Remley stated in his letter to his parents that the President's death caused quite an upset in the Army camp.

David Lee McCafferty, A.S., son of Mr. and Mrs. Rupert McCafferty, who was inducted into the US Navy several weeks ago, left last Friday for the Naval Training Station at Great Lakes, illinois where he will received his "boot" training. Pvt. Alvin Maxwell who has been stationed at Ft. Knox, KY since his induction Nov 27, 1944, arrived here last Thursday to spend a two weeks furlough with his p0arents, Mr. and Mrs. Ales Maxewell and family. Pvt. Maxwell will leave here April 25 for Ftr. Meade, Maryland, a point of embarkation.

Word has been received here that Lloyd L. Wells, son of Roy Wells, has been promoted from Lt. to the rank of Captain. Capt. Wells has been overseas two years and is serving in an anti-aircraft Battalion with the 5th Army in Italy. Mrs. Wells and son, Kendall are living in Lafayette.

Lee Everett Endicott, son of Mr. and Mrs. Homer ENdicott is now stationed at Camp Blanding, Fla. He entered the service March 17th. His address is Pvt LE Endicott, 35971350 Co B 196th ITB, Camp Blanding, Fla.

Ensign Herbert E. Hizer, and Mrs. Hizer and their daughter, Judith of Elwood, spent Saturday here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl E. Hizer .Ensign Hizer is in the Armed Guard and is stationed in NY. Mr. Carl Hizer, the new PA Station agent, has rented the Boyden Paddack home and he and Mrs. Hizer will move there in the near future.

Mr. and Mrs. Bert Hampton received a telegram from the War Dept yesterday notifying them that their son, S Sgt Eugene (Beaner) Hampton had been seriously wounded by Corregidor on March 4. This was the first definite information the Hamptons had received concerning their son's injuries. Sgt. Hampton had written them several letters saying he was getting along all right and not to worry about him, but had never told them what had happened.'
The telegram to Mr. and Mrs. Hampton stated that a new address for SSgt Hampton would be sent to them.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Weiliver received a letter yesterday from their son, Tech Sgt Donald Weliver, saying he had been wounded in action and that his right leg and hip is in a cast. The letter was dated April 7 and it is presumed that he had been wounded a few days before. In the letter Don stated that the Dr said he was getitng along all right but would be laid up several weeks. He said he was feeling all right. Sgt Weliver is with the 151st Infantry Regiment now located in the Philippines, and has been overseas more than a year.
