A Ladoga main through and through he was born in the small Montgomery County, Indiana town the last day of July in 1927 to James Russell and Alta Leone Smith Cross. A graduate of Ladoga HS in 1945, then immediately off to the Navy to finish out WWII.
In mid-May, 1949 at the Ladoga Christian Church he married Clara Irene French. Five daughters blessed their home.
An active member of the Ladoga Christian Church, he was deputy town marshall for 28 years, a Ladoga Fire fighter for 28; Utilities Superintent 39 years and member of the American Legion at Ladoga. His beloved fire guys took his casket to the Ladoga Cemetery for its final resting place. Love it and thanks for serving~~
