PHILIP K. BIDDLE

Although born in Parke County Indiana in the Portland Mills area on the 23rd of July, 1923, Philip K. Biddle spent a major part of his life in the Waynetown area, Montgomery County. He was the son of Clarence Glenn and Frances (Fanny) Manning Biddle.

A graduate of Waynetown High School, he spent many years as an apprentice in the CMP (Crawfordsville Multi Press) Department at R.R. Donnelley and sons. He rose to the CMP Platemaking Supervisor. "He was a mellow man," quote from Michael Bowman who also told this story. At one point, he went into the warehouse where supplies were housed, climbed up on some racks, lost his grip and fell. His leg never healed properly. The first picture below is probably before Philip went to the Army on what is known as the foot bridge at Waynetown.

Active in the Waynetown Methodist Church, he also belonged to the Elks, American Legion and was a 50-year member of the Hillsboro Masonic Lodge. He married his sweetie 1 July 1949. Phil and Margie were just shy of their 55th wedding anniversary before he passed away the 24th of March 2005 and she in September of the same year. Their son, Andy is so much fun and their daughter, Laura Kaye says, "I loved my daddy. I miss 'em both!" They also have a brother, Bryan and half-brother, Mark. A perfect ending to this tribute would be this quote : "Your dad didn't say much, but when he did, it was either important or funny," by David Chastain ... classmate of Bryan's, friend of Laura's.
