Tuesday evening in the small court room a meeting of young men was held to effect the organization of a new military company to be offered to the government for service in the war with Spain. The meeting was presided over by James Wilhite and R.K. Krout, Jr acted as secretary. The books were opened for enlistment and 43 names were at once enrolled.
It may be that this new company will be used to fill out Company M, as many of those who went to Indianapolis Tuesday will be rejected. It is the wish of the members of Company M that the company be made up strictly of Montgomery County boys. Many of the young men who joined last night are well up in military matters, having been members of Company I and Company D, which formerly had existence here. Those who were recruited Tuesday evening are:
