"...taken circa 1900 when my great grandfather was a U.S. Army soldier during the Philippine-American War. The photo was taken by Tatom & Co. Photographers, Cebu, Cebu Island, Philippines. [Includes] 1900 U.S. Census enumerated in Balamban, Cebu Island, Philippines, which identifies this group of soldiers as Company K, 44th U.S. Volunteer Infantry, which includes seven individuals from Montgomery County, including my great grandfather. In the...photo, my great grandfather is the sixth soldier from the right sitting on the ground. I'm sorry that I can't identify any of the other Montgomery County soldiers, but one of the soldiers holding a bugle on the left side of the photo must be Charles C. McClure, who is listed as a Musician in the 1900 Census record." -- Daniel Jolley
