Religious Excitement

June 7, 1860
Lebanon Pioneer

Religious Excitement -- We learn that a Mr. Andrew Cohee, who lives some four miles north of town, has been laboring for some days past, under an attack of delirium said by the physicians to have been produced by religious excitement. A "revival" had been in progress in the neighborhood, at which he had attended, and manifested considerable excitement; and, we are informed, it was at one of the meetings that the first symptoms of mental derangement exhibited themselves. At last accounts his insanity had assumed a violent form, requiring physical strength to keep him in his bed, and but little hopes were entertained of his recovery. This is the third case of the kind that has occurred in our county - one resulting in speedy death, and the other in confinement in the Insane Asylum.
