We've uncovered some embarrassing ancestors in the not-too-distant past. Some horse thieves, and some people killed on Saturday nights. One of my relatives, unfortunately, was even in the newspaper business.

Below are links to many old newspaper articles written by various local Boone County and national newspapers taking the readers back to some early Boone County history and a glimpse of life as our ancestors knew it. I think you'll discover that other than the dates, many things were not that much different than they are today. There were marriages, babies, illness and death. Tragedies struck families with accidents, and yes, even crime touched Boone County way back then, too. Next time you hear the expression, "The good old days," you might now realize Great-Grandma and Grandpa had their fair share of bad days, also!
