A Country Correspondent

The Lebanon Pioneer
September 1, 1921

A Country Correspondent

David D. Cohee, representing Lister School House, is the oldest continuous correspondent of the Pioneer. He commenced writing the items for Listers in 1884, and has only occasionally missed a week. His reports have covered every important event in the neighborhood, and, collected into one volume would make an accurate history of over thirty-six years.

Mr. Cohee is a native of Clinton county, where he was born 67 years ago. His parents, the late Andrew and Amelia Cohee, moved to Boone county when David was six years old, and since that time David has been a resident of the Lister school house neighborhood. Here he married Miss Jane Click, daughter of Nicholas Click, and has reared a family of five children, all married.

Mr. Cohee was a Republican when he commenced to write for the Pioneer, but has since become a supporter of Democratic principles and nominees. He is a member of Bethel Methodist Episcopal Church and has for years served as an official of that organization. For thirty-eight years past Mr. Cohee has kept a diary in which he notes the weather conditions, shows the temperature and tells what he did that day, and in addition to all his other duties, is finding time to write a family history.
