J. R. Clore
J. R. CLORE was born in Johnson County, Indiana, July
13, 1857, and was reared on a farm, his father being one of
the leading farmers of Johnson County.
At the age of seventeen years he confessed Christ and United
with the Christian Church at Bargersville, where, with his
parents, he had been with his parents a regular attendant
from childhood. On February 26, 1879 he was married to Miss
Nannie ARSHWILDER, a farmers daughter, of his native
county. The first five years of his married life was spent
on a farm adjoining the little village of Bargersville. In
1884 he sold his farm and bought the farm now owned by
William McCLAREY. Two miles south of Jamestown, in
Hendricks Co. All of the improvements now on the farm were
placed there by Mr. CLORE. He continued to make farming his
occupation until about ten years ago, when he turned his
attention to mostly to fruit growing. Because of failing
health he sold his farm in January, 1903, and bought of
Harry Kessler the New York Dry Goods Store and moved
to Jamestown, [Boone Co. IN.]
Mr. CLORE is the father of four children - Lester and Frank
of Jamestown and Edna and Russel, deceased. Since purchasing
the dry goods store, Mr. CLORE has enjoyed a excellent
trade.
