In the book, "Early Life and Times in Boone County," 1887,
on page 314-3154, is says that 5.David Kersey was born on
October 20, 1939 and his first wife was Sarah Graves, and
his second Wife was Kessiah Gray. 5. David's parents were 9.
Thomas Kersey born April 12, 1802 in Nicholas County., Ky
(died July 9 1886 Boone County, In.) his mother was 10.
Elizabeth HINTON born January 3, 1800 Sharpsburg, Nicholas
Co., Ky.(died July 10, 1900 Boone County, In). Thomas and
Elizabeth came to Boone County in the fall of 1831 with
their two small sons from Nicholas County, Ky., They were
followed in 1837 by 11. John Kersey (1764-1852), Thomas'
father, who was receiving a pension as a Revolutionary War
veteran. John Kersey was born in Pittsylvania County,
Virginia on March 11,1764 from Pittsylvania County, he
went west in 1779 to settle in that part of Virginia which,
in 1792, was to become the state of Kentucky.
In September of 1780, at Lexington Station, now the city of
Lexington, Kentucky, John Kersey enlisted in Col. Daniel
Boone's Virginia Regiment, serving in companies commanded by
Capt. Robert Patterson and Capt. William McConnell, in
campaigns against the Indian allies of the British. He was
honorably discharged in November of 1782 after two years and
two months of service as a private soldier. He moved to
Boone County in May, 1837 to live with his children who had
previously emigrated from Kentucky.
In coming to Boone County, In., John Kersey's sons acquired
large tracts of land from the government and reared big
families, of whom many descendants are still living in Boone
County, In.

1808-Kentucky.
