Samuel S. Strong
SAMUEL S. STRONG.
Mr. Strong was born in Ohio about the year 1805, came to the
county and Lebanon at an early day, possibly as early as
1836 or 1838. Was postmaster away back in the forties. Was
the first tanner in Lebanon, where he continued for many
years, where Mrs. Daily now resides. He moved to Illinois is
the year 1860. He was school commissioner of the county a
term of years. He was a Whig and as such elected or
appointed to the offices above referred to. The following
are some of his childrens’ [sic] names as far as we can get:
Oscar, James, and Resin. In person Mr. S. was low,
heavy-set, fair complexion, and belonged to the M. E. Church
as well as his wife; as to her we do not know where or when
she was born.
