Arment, Steward
I'm looking
for information on the families of my ancestors, William Steward and
Sarah Arment,
who were married in Vermillion County, IN in 1841.
Spelling variations for their last names include Stewart, Stuard,
Stuart, Armend,
Armett, Arnent, and possibly Arnett.
William and
Sarah Steward lived near Covington, IN during the 1840's. By
1850 they had moved
to Carroll Twp. Vermilion County, IL. Their children included
Jonathan, Esther, Andrew,
Mary J., Sarah, Maria or May, and Billie M.
According to
census records William was born about 1815 either in PA or at
sea. His parents
were both born in Ireland. His father may have been Henry.
Sarah Arment
was born about 1816 in North Carolina. In 1850 Mary Armett
age 53 and Andrew
I Armett age 15 were living with William and Sarah. They are
presumed to be Sarah's
mother and brother. The Arment family moved to
Indiana prior to Andrew's birth.
These lines
have been difficult to research. If anyone has knowledge of
either the Steward
or Arment family, I'd be extremely grateful to hear from you.
