“Grapevine Ridge” – The speaking at McHaffie’s School House was a success Thursday night.  Curtis Neese of Chicago is visiting his mother, Lizzie.  Henry Trustur has moved to a farm in Cloverdale Twp.  John Miller is not expected to live but a few days.  The clover seed crop here this season is very light.

10 July 1896 p7 – The many friends of John Kellum will be sorry to hear of his death which occurred the 30th of June. He lives near Clay City and his remains were brought to the Wilkinson cemetery for burial near Poland.  Other notations are Hiram Tresner and family of Brazil paid the Ridge a visit.  Evans Bros report the quality of wheat bad.  Mrs. Wm. Evans has a week or flower plant in her yard that is 6’6” high. The seed came from Texas. It has a red flower on it.
