SOLDIERs Monument - Putnam

The following are subscriptions since last report:

$25 – A.S. Bryan

$15 – W.B. William

$10 – E.R. Miller; J.W. Cole and E.P. Layton

$5 – R.S. Owen; Mrs. Susan Loftus; Orville Earl; Joseph Kelly; C. Landes; FT Soaper. Mr. Cole is not a resident of our county but gives $10 and says he has $100 for such a monument in his own county. Has not Putnam a few more men with such a spirit?  The past few weeks have been spent in investigation and considering the different designs and propositions submitted for building the monument. The Banner described editorially last week the design in its full propositions requires yet between $2 and $3000 and for this money we now confidently appeal to the people of Putnam County.  We will endeavor to publish next week the complete list of the dead as we have received it, in order that corrections may be made if it yet contains errors.
