In September, 1895,
the Reeves family with relatives and friends met on the old John Reeves farm
north of this city and organized for the purpose of holding annual reunions. At
this meeting Orange Reeves, the president, read a very interesting history of the
Reeves family from the time they first came over from England. He also stated
that Mr. Samuel Reeves of Haddonsville, NJ was then preparing an extended
history of this numerous family, to be published in book form and sold at cost.
It has been decided to hold the next reunion in McClary’s Grove on the old
Stacy Reeves farm north of this city on the Bainbridge road. A committee has
been appointed whose duty it will be to notify by postal the members of the
various branches of the family as to the time and place of the reunion. The
time agreed upon is Aug 12, 1896. May have signified their intention to be
there and a large gathering is expected. AW Whelan, Secy – Zach Reeves Chm’n
