On Sunday, Sept 12 the descendants of William Pursell met at the old William Pursell homestead, four miles northeast of Greencastle, which is now owned by Alonzo Arnold, for their first family reunion. The register showed 109 in attendance. A long table was arranged at the foot of the hill near the big oak tree and close to the old spring that has served to quench the thirst of this one family for more than 75 years. Mrs. Jennie Pursell, now of Franklin was the only one of the immediate family who survives. In the afternoon several pictures were taken and the telling of incidents that took place at various times on the premises was participated in by quite a number. The fourth Sunday in July was set as a date on which to meet there next year. The following officers were selected for one year: President, Walter Pursell, VP, Alvah Pursell; Sec Maud Arnold; Miss Helen Browning was asked to provide entertainment of some sort. Those present from a distance were Alvah Pursell and family and Frank Pursell and family of Indianapolis.
