Mr. and Mrs. Russell Powers of Crawfordsville will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2-4 p. m. Sunday in the Wabash Room of the Crawfordsville Holiday Inn.
Powers and the former Margaret Ann Edwards were married July 27, 1947, in Roachdale Presbyterian Church.
She is a graduate of Roachdale High School and St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing. She is employed as a nurse at Culver Union Hospital and is a member of Delta Theta Tau Sorority and the New Market Women’s Club.
He is a graduate of New Market High School, the Indiana School of Mortuary Science and is a veteran of World War II. He served as the Montgomery County Coroner for 15 years, and the couple opened the Powers Funeral Home at Crawfordsville and New Market in 1963. He is a member of the Lion’s Club, and they are both members of Trinity United Methodist Church.
The couple have two children, Virginia Servies of Crawfordsville and Steve of Crawfordsville. They also have two grandchildren.
