Morris, Alpheus - Rebecca - 50th anniv

Alpheus and Rebecca Morris celebrated the 50th anniversary of their wedding at Fillmore on March 29. At 9 o’clock a.m. the house was well filled with their children and invited guests. All of the children were present except Robert Morris, there being present 39. The dinner was simply a feast. On a pedestal in the center of the table was a mammoth cake, presented by the girls, with this inscription on it: “Alpheus Morris and Rebecca Minor were married March 29, 1831. Mr. Morris is a native of W Virginia and will be 70 years old July 21, 1881. Mrs. Morris is a native of PA and was 68 on the 13th inst. They have had 9 children, 8 living. They have 23 grandchildren and two great grand children. May their future years be long and full of sunshine.
