Viola M. Skelton has been plaintiff in a paternity suit against Martin
Moffitt before “Squire Denny, and Smiley & Carpenter were attorneys” for
relatrix. Constable Webster arrested the defendant in this city this morning
and a compromise was affected. In the
agreement the defendant paid the attorneys’ fees and costs of prosecution and
pursuant to the compromise a license was procured and Squire Denny performed a
marriage ceremony instead of an act of judicial sternness. The parties were all
satisfied and left for Oakalla on the morning local freight. The charge against
Moffet was an old one, he having been absent from the state.
