McCoy, William - liquor license
Source: Greencastle Banner March 26, 1874 p 3
William McCoy – in a very courteous manner, informed the interviewer that he is selling liquor under the Baxter law; that he pays the city of Greencastle $500 for the privilege; that he is willing to abide by that law, ready to suffer the penalty for any violation of that law and that having thus obtained State and City license, he considers it as legitimate a business as that of groceries or dry goods, so long as he does not make a nuisance of it. He opens his saloon at 6 in the morning and closes at 9 at night and says he does not think it right as long as he has commenced his business under and in accordance with a law of the State that the women should now take the business out of the hands of the law and try to execute it themselves.
