White Caps in Madison Twp, Putnam County left a bundle of switches on the steps of Edgar Gardner’s residence with a warning to mend his ways. Afterward Gardner met Thomas Heady on the highway and charged him with being one of the White Caps. This led to a cutting affray in which Gardner was severely stabbed. The injured man is a son of ex-County Commissioner Gardner.
