Dispatches from Washington today carried the story that 19 fast army pursuit airplanes made a night trip from Selfridge Field, Michigan to Washington. Robert Hixson, son of Mrs. FW Hixson of this city piloted one of the planes. The entire trip was made at night as an experiment and the return trip is being made for the same purpose. It is the army’s first effort at night flying and the ships made the trip in army formation and without trouble. The fact that Hixson was chosen as one of the pilots indicates that he is one of the army’s leading fast airplane pilots.
