GASAWAY, URIAH - Putnam

Friends and relatives of Uriah Gasaway of Reelsville oldest of six surviving Mexican War Veterans in the United States will gather at the Reelsville ME Church next Sunday Christmas Day to celebrate the aged soldiers 101st birthday anniversary.  The special services will be held at 2 o’clock in the afternoon.  All friends of the aged veteran are invited to attend the birthday party for Mr. Gasaway.  A special program including a son service and speakers will be held.  Records show that Mr. Gasawy is the oldest of six Mexican War veterans in the United States.  Others are Samuel Lefler, age 96 of St. Paul, Ind; William F. Buckner, age 99 of Paris, Mo; Calvin E. Meyers, 97 of Livingston, Tenn; Owen T Edgar 96 Washington DC and Richard A. Howard, 95.   -– kbz
