Craig and wife, of Napier, celebrated their golden wedding in Napier, Tuesday
evening Oct 26. It was a surprise to
them and, was planned and carried out by their son, CW Craig and wife of
Fortescue, this date also being their 10th wedding anniversary, but
instead of gold was a baser metal but withal very useful tin. The guests
presented Mr. and mrs. Craig each with a pair of gold spectables and several
other tokens of esteem. Mr. Craig was born in Putnam County, Indiana in 1842
and moved with his parents to Andrew County, Missouri when two years old. Mrs.
Craig’s maiden name was Julia A. Kelly and she was born near St. Joseph in
Andrew County in 1844. They were married
at the bride’s home in Andrew County Oct 26, 1865. To them were born 8 children, 5 boys and 3
girls but only three sons are living: CW; EL and GP. Mr. Craig was a Union Solder during the war.
He removed with his family to Hold County in 1891. A delightful and enjoyable
