John Cane, the well known Indianapolis traveling man who was nearly murdered by Martin Moran shook hands with many Greencastle friends Saturday. This was his first trip to this city since he fell before the bullets of the man who is now doing time at Michigan City. A Chicago surgeon pulled him through after his case was given up at Indianapolis. Operation after operation was performed and the last one – the most dangerous of all – resulted in saving his life. Said jack, “I was literally cut all to pieces with surgeons’ knives, butchered and its wonderful how they can now carve a man up and make him well again. Mr. Cane, however, shows the effect of his terrible wounds in his changed appearance.
