Burkett - Reunions - Putnam

The fourth annual reunion of the Burkett family was held Thursday, June 3 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sanford Bales, one mile north of Morton.  All the members of the family, which numbers 45, were present with the exception of two to enjoy this, another family gathering. After greetings were exchanged the table was bountifully spread with turkey, chicken and ham, pies and cakes of every description and a score of other dishes for which we have no names. In fact it would have almost exhausted a good-sized dictionary to try to define them. In the four years in which these reunions have been held the family has been blessed in losing not a single member but each year on being added – this year by the marriage of Otis Hicks. Hoping all who attended this reunion spent a pleasant and happy day we wish all an enjoyable year to come and their lives spared to meet again at the fifth reunion to be held in the year 1910 at the home of Mrs. Mary J. Crodian.
