Articles of incorporation were filed with the Sec. of State by the Brazil, Bainbridge & Northern Indiana railway company with a capital stock of $100,000. Directors: William J. Craig, Layman A. Walton, Vernon S. Barnes, Ennis B. Smyser and Francis M. Trissal. The proposed route will be the outlet to the coal fields of Clay County, beginning at Brazil and extending through Clay, Park (sic – Parke), Putnam, Hendricks, Boone, Clinton, Carroll, Howard and Cass counties to Logansport, where it will connect with the Pan Handle for Chicago and other points in the North and Northwest. The length of the road will be 120 miles.
