BRANHAM, Wm & Eliza - 62nd anniv

Source: St. Louis, Missouri Post-Dispatch 20 May 1900 Sunday p 37

William Branham and his wife, Eliza Branham, have just celebrated the 62nd anniversary of their marriage. Golden weddings, when the half-century mark of matrimony is reached are rare enough but it is of rare occurrence in the history of this country when a couple can be found who have lived together in “the holy bonds” for 62 years. And the lives of Mr. and Mrs. Branham have been an unceasing romance. In spite of trials and privations in earlier years in spite of the sorrows and sufferings which afflicted them in common with all humankind, they have jogged along peacefully and happily, seeing their children grow from babyhood to married men and women with babies of their own, and resting content in the evening of their existence, with the fact that they have been good citizens, faithful, industrious, patient and cheerful.  How closely, too, the lives of this aged couple have fun, from the day of their birth until now.  William Branham was born in Floyd County, Kentucky Jan 22, 1817. Mrs. Branham, nee Sinclair was born in Floyd County Kentucky July 25, 1819.  Mr. Branham’s parents migrated to Putnam County, Indiana in 1828. Mrs. Branham’s parents moved to the same locality in the same year. Hence the couple have known each other from babyhood. They were married May 6, 1838 in Putnam County Indiana and being the son and daughter of farmers they continued in that occupation, falling heir to their share of prosperity. They now live in Tuscola, Ill and are enjoying such good health as to warrant the belief that they have many years of happiness yet before them. The aged couple have three sons and two daughters now living – William P and Isaac T. Branham of Tuscola; Jonathan S of 2739 Thomas Street, St. Louis; Mrs. Eliza Cloyd of Decatur and Mrs. Kate Souls of Mattoon. The celebration of their remarkable anniversary was attended by a large number of relatives and friends.
