On Tuesday morning about 11 o’clock, William Branham, who is employed as a brakeman on the local freight train on the Vandalia Line, met with a terrible accident at Reelsville. He was making a coupling between two cars, and in coming out from between the cars his shoe caught on a ragged splinter of steel that had that had split off the rail, causing him to fall with his legs over one of the rails and the moving freight car passed over his right leg above the knee and also caught his left leg, fracturing it in three places, badly crushing it above and below the knee joint and also crushing the bones at the hip joint.  Dr. Gillespey was quickly summoned to give him surgical attention, his wounds were dressed and he was made as comfortable as possible until the fast train going west arrived when he was taken to Terre Haute where he makes his home.  The injured man is a son of John Branham of Limedale and is well known to many of our citizens.  He has the sincere sympathy of all in his great misfortune.  --– kbz
