Crawfordsville, Dec 17 – 114 Wabash men attended the banquet at Masonic temple, given by the Montgomery County Association of Wabash Men in honor of this year’s state collegiate championship football 11.  Coach Sheeks, Graduate Manager Diddel, Student Manager Higgins and the entire squad were guests of the association.  Professor James H. Osborne, who has been a professor at Wabash since 1883 presided. Oliver F. Cutts, Athletic Director of Purdue delivered the address of the evening in which he made a strong plea for clean athletics and sportsmanlike conduct on the athletic field. 30 years of football history at Wabash were reviewed by the other speakers on the program each one representing a certain period.  These speakers included Eben H. Wolcott, ’86 Indianapolis, member of the first association football team at Wabash; William K. Martin ’87 Crawfordsville, captain of the first rugby football team that won the state championship; the Rev. AS Buchanan, ’97 Indianapolis center rush in the 90s, Harley T. Ristine, ’03, Crawfordsville, tackle on the first team after football was resumed at Wabash in 1900; Will H. Diddel, ’08 one of the original Little Giants  and now graduate manager of athletics; Kent C. Lamber, ’13, quarterback on the team the four years Jesse Harper was coach.  Howard Showalter, captain of this year’s 11; Harold Cauldwell, Captain-elect for next year and Coach Paul P. Sheeks.
