McCormac, President and Thomas Craig, Secretary. The meeting was opened with prayer by Rev. Reese Davis when upon motion, Rev. SN Evans, P. McCormac, Wm. Long, Dennis Pottenger and Caleb Conner were appointed as a Vigilance Committee to cooperate with the County Committee of Vigilance. Dr. Dare of Annapolis was called for and responded in a very beautiful, able and argumentative speech – Rev. J Warner of Russellville also responded to a call in a short, but very pretty and effective address – when upon motion the Convention adjourned until 6 o’clock p.m. The Convention then repaired to Collier’[s Hall to partake of a sumptuous repast, prepared by the ladies where they enjoyed the luxuries of the land together with the smiles and approbation of the Ladies who are ever foremost in all patriotic and philanthropic movements. Evening Session – 6 o’clock – Convention met and was opened with prayer by Rev PT Palmer, when sentiments of respect and esteem were offered by Thomas P. Killen and MA Wasson to the fathers of the Temperance Reformation the Ladies who prepared the Supper and the citizens of the town of Waveland and were responded to by Dr. Dare, Rev. PT Palmer and Robert E. Craig in turn by appropriate addresses. The Convention was ever and anon entertained by the soul stirring, appropriate and pathetic strains of vocal music by a choir of young ladies and gentlemen that would do honor to any community. It was then resolved, that we support no man for office other than a Good Temperance Man regardless of other political party considerations. Resolved that the Montgomery journal, Crawfordsville Locomotive and Parke County Whit be requested to publish the proceedings of this Convention and on motion the Convention adjourned since die.
