St. Bernard
Source: Crawfordsville Review 15 Jan 1898 p 1
The efficiency of the fire department was thoroughly shown on Thursday morning, about 10 o’clock when smoke was seen issuing from all parts of St. Bernard’s Church indicated the building to be on fire. It had caught from the furnace in the east part of the building and was burning the alter and wood work adjoining when the firemen began throwing water upon it. It was extinguished within a half hour. The loss is probably $2,000 which is covered by insurance. - kbz
