Crawfordsville, Ind – A meeting to discuss rehabilitation of Shades State Park will be held at 7:30 p.m. June 11 in the park, Forrest Coleman of Waveland, president of the newly-organized Shades Booster Club announced yesterday. An organization meeting of the Boosters Club was held Tuesday night but Coleman said, “no club projects were discussed.” The run-down condition of the state park was pointed out in recent stories in the Indianapolis Star, which also told of thefts of valuable timber from the Shades. Officers, besides Coleman chosen by the more than 100 persons attended were Robert Myers, VP; Helen Jean Patton, Sec; Rev. Harold Meima, Treas and Sam Patton, Larry Servies, Charles Milligan, Glenn Whitham, Gerald Fuller, Frank Howard Sr, Waneta Bayless and Fred Bayless, Board of Directors. Membership, finance, publicity and entertainment committees also were named. Those chosen to serve as committeemen were Fred Whitecotton, Kenneth Milligan, Lowel Spencer, Theron Banta, Franklin Johnson, Richard Johnson, Lester Bayless and Kenneth Rafferty. Most of the officers, directors and committeemen are residents of nearby Waveland. Membership in the organization is open to all interested persons. - kz
