Prohibition

Source: Richmond Indiana Item Thu 8 Oct 1903 p 5

Crawfordsville Oct 8 – Darlington and Alamo are two Montgomery towns that have been placed in the “dry” list by the commissioners refusing to grant liquor license. During the present temperance campaign the towns of Ladoga, Waynetown, Linden, Darlington, Waveland, New market, Alamo and Wingate have gone “dry.” The effort to stop the liquor traffic in Crawfordsville failed but the laws are better observed. There are saloons at New Richmond and New Ross and remonstrances will be offered against them when they apply for licenses in December.
