Crawfordsville, June 25 – Because the widow for whom he worked as a farm employee near New Richmond this county refused to marry him, James Meherry, 45 years old, I said to have lost his mind. Several times of late he has proposed to the widow, who spurned his offers. Finally his actions became so queer and his attentions so obnoxious that the widow notified the officers, Marshal Work of New Richmond and turnkey Waldrip of Crawfordsville, arrested him last night after a fierce encounter in which he almost overpowered b oth of them, and removed him to the county jail here.
