The residence of John L. Hawkins in Ripley Township caught fire Mondy night from a defective flue and was burned to the ground. Mr. Hawkins and wife are aged people and the situation on that cold night was decidedly unpleasant to them. They saved most of their household goods. There was no insurance - transcribed by kbz
