Hardacre Sheriff Roiy - sues commissioners

Crawfordsville, Feb 6 – Sheriff Roy Hardacre said today he will bring court action to compel the Montgomery County Commissioners to pay the salary of a deputy he appointed. The sheriff appointed Karl Kunert of Lafayette as a deputy to succeed a deputy who resided but when a $237 salary claim was filed by Kunert the commissioners refused to approve it. They contended the sheriff had no authority to appoint a deputy who was not a resident of Montgomery County.
