Crawfordsville, Ind – Sept 1- The shift in city government takes place today and Mayor Charles W. Elmore steps down and out for Byron R. Russell. Mr. Russell is not an experiment for he held the office two terms in the 80s and left an excellent record. John S. Brothers, marshal is succeeded by Clarence Patton who has been a patrolman and City Treasurer MB Waugh is relieved by Frank McCalip. City Clerk, JA McClure is the only old official held over. There are no reform movements afoot, although there will be several changes in the different departments. William Vance who has been chief of the fire department for 10 years gives way to HH Ramsey. As street commissioner, Alec Duncan succeeds Abner Jones. A novel feature in connection with the transfer of government is a public inaugural which was planned and advertised as a feature of the Labor Day celebration. The city officials all took part in the industrial parade and at its close May Russell was formally inaugurated on the court house corner. Judge West of the Circuit Court conducted the ceremonies.
