Crawfordsville July 4 – 17 trees, one for each of the 17 patriotic organizations in Montgomery County will be planted in memorial grove in Milligan Park here in a ceremony Sunday afternoon. Dumont Kennedy, former Crawfordsville mayor, will make the dedication address, Dr. Thomas L. Cooksey, mayor will respond. Dr. EH Cowan, age 87, Civil War Veteran will give the pledge to the flag. Mrs. MF Manson, widow of General Mahlon F. Manson, of Civil War fame will reside. “Trees” will be sung by Mrs. Gordon R. Gauld. Presidents of the patriotic societies will accept the trees for their organizations. They are: Daughters of the American Revolution, Mrs. Gardner, Wingate; Sons of the American Revolution, Dr. Edgar C. VanDerVolgen; Society of the War of 1812, John L. Schrum; Veterans of the Mexican War, MF Manson; Grand Army of the Republic, Patrick H. Lally; Woman’s Relief Corps, Mrs. Della Johnson; Ladies of the Grant Army, Mrs. Arthur H. Manson; Daughters of Union Veterans, Mrs. EE Cox; Spanish American War Veterans, Joseph Durham, Mace; Spanish American War Veterans Auxiliary, Mrs. Lloyd Williams; Veterans of Foreign Wars, Reichard Poore; Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Mrs. Clarence Black; American Legion, Glen D. Hayworth; American Legion Auxiliary, Mrs. Verne Davis; Patriotic Order Sons of America, Lloyd Williams; Girl Scouts of America, Mrs. Omar Glover and Boy Scouts of America, Frederick A. Turner. -s
