The first circus that ever struct Crawfordsville so far as I know, said one of our pioneers, pitched its little two by twice tent on South Washington Street opposite where Center Church now stands. That was out in the country then and the show suffered in the matter of patronage on that account. The next circus profited by the experience of the other and picked out a site closer to town. Their tent was pitched on the site of the Ben Hur building and they played to a big business.
