Beach-Bible altercation

Source: Crawfordsville Daily Journal Friday, 8 May 1891

On Tuesday evening, on the road near Oakland school house, a wordy altercation took place between S. A. R. Beach and R. M. Bible, which resulted in a banter to fight. The latter, springing from his wagon, grasping his wagon wrench, ran and dealt Mr. Beach a heavy blow on the side of the head which knocked him out of his buggy to the ground where he lay bleeding and senseless while his assailant stood by with hand still holding the weapon behind his back seemingly ready to finish his job. Soon after he sprang into his wagon, leaving his victim bleeding by the side of the road. Mr. Beach was taken home in a chill, where the doctor dressed the wound which was found to be about two inches long. Most of the time since he has been in a dazed condition. Although suffering greatly, it is hoped that with good care and medical skill he will fully recover.
