Alamo - Rural carrier

Source: Crawfordsville Weekly Journal 7 Feb 1902 p 10

Postmaster Nye has received a letter from the rural route authorities to the effect that a petition is now pending for another rural route out of this city, extending down in the Alamo neighborhood and authorizing him to receive applications for examination for the position of carrier on the proposed new route.  Applications must be made to Mr. Nye at once and when the date of the examination is fixed all applicants will be notified of the fact.  The rules specify that no person will be examined for the position under 17 or over 55 years of age, unless they are honorably discharged soldiers of the Civil or Spanish-American war who are physicially able to do the work.  Applicants must be prepared to furnish a cart or wagon from the work and must live on the proposed route or in the territory that will be served.
