A jolly gang of travelers (tramps) who had purchased or stolen a keg of beer were raising merry in the ravine below the Monon depot last evening when Marshall Ensminger appeared on the scene and quickly brought to a close their drunken revelry. There were an even dozen and they were promptly fired out of town.

The citizens living near the junction complain that that vicinity is literally overrun with tramps. Bonfires were numerous and it is estimated that no less than 50 made the piles of lumber and heading their head quarters last night.  One burly drunken thug entered the junction house last night and made some insolent demands but was thrown bodily out for his paints. It is said that from 25 to 40 sleep in the school house southeast of the junction ever night. The authorities have discovered that it is time and locks wasted to fasten it so the door is left unfastened and these tender creatures come and go at their own sweet will.
