Stilwell - ex-mayor charged

Louisville, Ky April 19 – Thomas L. Stilwell, a former mayor of Crawfordsville, Ind was held in $250 bond in the City Court this morning charged with maliciously shooting and wounding Annie Berry, a colored denizen of a negro dive on lower Green Street last night. The woman’s wounds are not serious. Stilwell told the court that he was passing the place on his way from the 10th street depot to his hotel and hearing a woman scream went in to render what help he could and was attacked and robbed by two women of whom the Berry woman was one. The woman was wounded he said in a struggle to secure possession of the revolver.
