Saturday, Sept. 28, 1901, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James A. Sanders, one mile east of Whitesville, occurred the Sanders reunion, in honor of John Sanders, of Centerville, Iowa, it being his 95th birthday. John Sanders was born in Kentucky Sept. 28, 1806. After spending his early years in Kentucky he moved near New Maysville, Putnam County, Indiana. In the early 60’s he moved with his family to Iowa, which state has since been his home. His wife died in 1887. He has nine living children, five in Iowa and four in Indiana.

Mr. Sanders is a well preserved gentleman for one of his age, having made five visits to Indiana in the last thirteen years. Those present were: Mr. Hughes, of Iowa; Thos. M. Sanders and wife, Mrs. Malinda Young, Mrs. Clemma Keck and children, of Barnard; Russell Sanders, wife and daughter, Otto Wilson, wife and son, Mrs. Allie Petty, Mrs. Effie Perkins and children, Harvey Jeffries and family, Noah Riggles and wife, of Roachdale; Grant Ward and family, of New Market; George Dean and wife, John Dean and family, of Ladoga; Mrs. Julia Wingert, Misses Ella and Goldie Wingert, Mr. and Mrs. Wm Smith and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Yeton and daughter, of Whitesville.
The family and guests to the number of forty eight were photographed, after which all departed for their homes having spent a pleasant day. - s
