Crawfordsville, Jan 1 – Mr. and Mrs. Theodore H. Ristine, pioneer residents of Crawfordsville, celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary recently with a family dinner served at the home of their son, Harley T. Ristine in this city. Both Mr. and Mrs. Ristine are descendants of early residents of Crawfordsville. Mr. Ristine’s father, Benjamin T. Ristine, settled here in 1823, being one of the first men to come to Crawfordsville. Mrs. Ristine’s father, Professor Samuel S. Thomson was one of the early professors of Wabash College. He taught Latin in the college for 39 years, Both she and her husband were born in Crawfordsville. They were married here December 28, 1869. Mr. Ristine was graduated from Wabash College in 1865. His college studies were interrupted by the civil war in which he served in the latter part of the conflict. He was born in Crawfordsville Jan 8, 1845 and within a few days will celebrated his 80th birthday. For many years following the war Mr. Ristine practice law here. He served as a trustee of Wabash for two decades. From 1890 until 1911 he served as treasurer of the college. Mr. and Mrs. Ristine’s three children joined in the celebration. They are Mrs. Elizabeth Olive, wife of Edgar W. Olive of Indianapolis; Harley T. Ristine of Crawfordsville and Frank H. Ristine, professor of English literature in Hamilton College, Clinton, NY. - kbz
