Poisoning of Perry Richardson
Source: Wednesday Journal, Crawfordsville, IN 4 May 1887
There have been no new developments in the (Perry Richardson) Fountain county poisoning case. The stomach of the deceased lady, together with a sample of the pills, have been sent to Purdue University for analysis, and until the result of this is known no legal action will be taken in the matter. Dr. Small, who manufactures the pills, says he has been making them for ten years, and that they are used by numberless physicians in their practice, he having certificates from prominent medical men as to their efficacy. He says he mixes the ingredients himself, and from a formula well know and time tried, and he knows that there is nothing in their composition which would produce the effect in this case. The general opinion is that Richardson endeavored to cure by administering poison. He is closely watched pending the examination of the stomach by the scientists. ---dkd
